You emerged from a wooden cabin Pokémon centre ready to travel to the next town, you are holding a map in one hand and shielding your eyes from the setting sun with the other. After being told by the local nurse Joy that the next town was only a 3 hour trip, through the deep wood. She heavily insisted on you staying the night, as gangs of thugs liked to hang around after sunset. You thanked her for the warning, but you were adamant on leaving that day.
You make your way happily through the wood, hopping over logs and brushing past bushes. The lack of light made it hard to see, all your attention was focused on your footing and not falling. You hear a rustling of leaves around you, at first you think that it is a Pokemon, but the noise follows you. You call out into the wood.
“Who’s there? Come out and face me!” the rustling sound now becomes laughter. You start to feel afraid, you whip out a Pokéball ready to fight if need be. You feel a presence behind you, you quickly turn to face them. In the moon’s light all you saw was the glow of their eyes and an object fly towards you. You are smacked towards the floor as your vision is blacked out.
You slowly start to regain consciousness, you try to move but find yourself constricted by rope. You reach towards the pokéballs on your belt; your loyal Pokémon will help you out of these unpleasant ropes. To your shock your pokéballs are gone! You’re filled with anger and sadness; this only fuels you to escape more. You try wearing away the ropes against a tree, sadly it doesn’t work, but just then from the corner of your eye you see a purple spark. The spark turns into a flash and escalates to an explosion. You gaze at the purple dust, glowing through the trees, as its gleaming shock wave flies toward you pushing you back.
The dust settles as you get to your feet, you cough out the dust you inhaled during the shockwave, with your eyes watery from coughing so much it takes you a while, to notice the figure floating before you. Your jaw drops as the floating figure came closer, shielded by its purple glow you find it hard to make out a face. You feel the rope around you loosen and fall to the ground.
“Thank you!” You cry as you rub your sore wrists. “I would stay and thank you more but I need to go save my Pokémon.” From seemingly nowhere six pokeballs surrounded by the same purple glow as the figure, begin circling you. You check their contents and you are relieved to see your companions again. “Thank you for saving me and my Pokémon ... what’s your name?” The purple veil surrounding your hero disappears and reveals a pale white face as way as a long purple tail.
“My name is Mewtwo.” It spoke in a deep voice. “I’m a clone Pokémon made many years ago.”
“I have never met a clone Pokémon before, It’s nice to meet you.”
“It is nice to finally be talking with you as well.”
“What do you mean, finally?”
“I have been following you for some time now, you could say that your style of training interests me.” The two of you fall silent, not sure what to say next, you just stand there in the dead of the night. As the Noctowl hoot around you, Mewtwo offers to take you to town just ahead. It sounded better than getting lost in the dark woods, so you happily accept.
Mewtwo waves his hand and you are surrounded in that same purple aura as when you first saw Mewtwo, and a second wave sends the two of you soaring above the trees and into the sky. The sky was lit by the light of the moon, it was so bright and you could see for miles; hard to believe the forest below was so dark. You try to move forward, but just find yourself flailing around in confusion. You soon get the hand of it and start zipping around the sky; doing loop de loops and laughing your head off.
“This is great! I want to travel this way all the time!”
Mewtwo hangs back with a smile on its face, Mewtwo’s happiness stemming from your enjoyment, until the psychic grip on you is lost, and you start falling towards the ground.
“AAAHHHHHHHH HELP ME!” You scream as Gravity pulls at your body. Like a shot bullet, Mewtwo rushes to your aid; Mewtwo catches you and holds you tight. You rest your head on Mewtwo’s shoulder as you try to get over the shock of your fall.
“I am sorry, I should have told you to stay close.” Mewtwo apologizes. “My powers only have effect while you are within a certain radius of me.” You shyly nod your head.
“Thank you for saving me… again.” You add sheepishly. “I think I will pass on flying for now, and just stay here.” You snuggled up to Mewtwo and tighten your grip.
“It was my pleasure, I am happy to save your life whenever you need it.” With you held tight Mewtwo flies the two of you through the starry sky, and safely to the next town. Mewtwo drops you off on the outskirts of the town, to avoid being seen by other humans. “This is as far as I go, good bye.”
“WAIT!” You call, as Mewtwo turns away from you .“When will I see you again”
“You may never see me again, but I will always be watching you.” Mewtwo looks over its shoulder to you. “If you are ever in any danger I will be there to save you.” With that Mewtwo shoots off into the night, leaving you in a cloud of dust. You shield your face and wave the dust away; you look up and examine the sky for Mewtwo. The psychic type Pokémon that saved your life was long gone.
“Thank you Mewtwo, I won’t forget you.”
